As of late I’ve been so into Free People- I love their brand and how it has such a carefree spirit. I found this maxi on gilt and I’m so glad I decided to purchase it. It has been perfect for spring and will transition great into Summer. My favorite part of this dress is absolutely and obviously the back- I love the openess and simplicity. The layers at the bottom of the dress create such an incredible shape for my shorter frame. My only complaint is that if you are a little bit busty, this type of top can be trouble some- I didn’t find it to be an issue but if you do, it is easy enough to layer with a fun lacy bralette (check out Victoria’s Secret).
Do you ever shop on flash sale websites such as Gilt.com or Hautelook.com? Lauren and I both really like them- I’ve found such amazing products for nearly half the price and it’s fantastic.
As you saw in our recent post “Turtlenecks and Tunics” we are totally crushing on turtlenecks for this time of year! For some reason we always associated turtlenecks with our moms- not to say they aren’t fashionable (they totally are), but these sweaters were something that they would wear. Maybe it’s because we are older, or maybe because we are more mature with our style, but how did we not wear these sweaters before?!?
As you can see from our pictures below, turtlenecks are totally following the oversized sweater trend, which is warm and comfy for the upcoming chilly days. The chunky knits are great with skirts and denim as a stand alone piece or layering over a collared shirt! On the other end, the delicate, thinner turtlenecks are also perfect for layering and can be dressed up a little easier with whatever you want to wear. We really think these are one of the staple items you need for this winter!
We have been seeing turtlenecks all over the place. From Nordstrom and Aritzia, to Gap and Zara, you can find a variety of knits, colors, and fits. Banana Republic has some really cute turtleneck outfits we suggest checking out!
We cannot be the only ones that feel like life gets 10x more crazy after Halloween- we’re not sure if it’s the onset of the Holidays or just the fact we are in a coma from all the candy we ate during Halloween, but it’s been nonstop lately. Between work and school Lauren and I have had the most insane couple of weeks! Regardless, we are back from our small hiatus!
Last weekend, my Grandparents celebrated their 60th (yes, wow!) Wedding Anniversary and I wore this great tunic to their party. I love this tunic. Well really, I enjoy tunics in general which is a little ironic considering most tunics are basically a dress on me because I’m so short. This tunic, from Free People, is one of my favorites because it’s so lightweight- which makes it a perfect layering piece for winter and fall. Additionally, it has a great shape and I love the turtleneck detail as well (great neckline for chunky jewelry!).
Have a great week! XO Danielle & Lauren
P.S. It’s finally starting to feel like fall here in California… 🙂

Hope you all are enjoying your Labor Day Weekend!!!
We have both been super casual and laid back for the holiday. Sometimes taking it easy & relaxing is the best way to spend a day off! We both have really been into some of our favorite 90’s trends lately- hence, the overalls. I tried mixing up a typical overalls look with edge by incorporating hoops, heels and a crop top hoodie. Lauren and I have always enjoyed mixing different styles within a look. We think it really gives it individuality and makes the outfit represent the particular person wearing it. After all, isn’t that what fashion is about – individual expression?
Anyways, I’m loving this overalls from Free People because I really can mix it up- whether with a crop top hoodie and heels or with a flowy blouse and booties, I feel like I can dress up the overalls in any way I want. Really a great staple piece for my closet! Overalls can be tricky (whether it be short or long) so experimenting is key! Make your overalls your own and create your own unique look!
We can all appreciate a good print, and summer is the perfect time to show it off. Floral prints in particular have been popping up all over stores due to their whimsical and effortless nature. This is why we decided to feature them on this WAiSTEDD Wednesday.
Floral prints are found on everything and anything, not just maxi dresses. You can find shirts, shorts, rompers, pants, skirts, bag, etc etc. in floral prints this 2014 Summer season. When figuring out what is best for you, we suggest picking a piece that you feel comfortable wearing. Sometimes a loud print needs a bold attitude, so if you are going to be self-conscious in it, opt for a subtle pastel print. Also, if you are a little hesitant about a bold print, remember that you can match it back to a basic (white tee shirt or black tank top) to balance the outfit. Pair any outfit with a pair of neutral shoes, or a color that brings out one of the colors in your outfit for a little extra pop.
Throwing on a simple floral printed maxi dress (as seen in the pictures below) is a simple way to piece together a stunning outfit. Just throw on a denim jacket or sweater, and you are ready for a day to night look.
Summer is a time to have fun. Let your hair down and try out a floral print. We promise you will make such a statement and get so many compliments, as well as have a fun time wearing something a little sassy.
We all understand there is a matching myth. We are here to put it to rest.
In our younger years, we were always told that matching our clothes perfectly was essential. In high school, not matching was equivalent to your own social suicide. Now that we have matured, we realize you can utilize many pieces in your closet by not being “matchy-matchy”.
Denim on Denim is your quintessential fashion “no-no” according to so many women. But why? Mainly because you can’t pair similar washes together- this makes you look like one big walking jean ad. Mix it up! Pair different washes together, accessorize with bold gold jewelry and you’ve got yourself an outfit your high school peers will envy.
Another unconventional pairing is that of leather and lace. Biker chic meets Victorian femininity doesn’t sound like a combination that would work well together. Lauren’s jacket, however, does just that. The leather brings an edge that the lace on the back of the jacket softens- a stellar combination that makes it even more versatile.
We love accessories. They don’t need to match perfectly, if we haven’t reiterated the gist of our post enough already.
