Navy Maxi

Happy Friday!

As of late I’ve been so into Free People- I love their brand and how it has such a carefree spirit. I found this maxi on gilt  and I’m so glad I decided to purchase it. It has been perfect for spring and will transition great into Summer. My favorite part of this dress is absolutely and obviously the back- I love the openess and simplicity. The layers at the bottom of the dress create such an incredible shape for my shorter frame. My only complaint is that if you are a little bit busty, this type of top can be trouble some- I didn’t find it to be an issue but if you do, it is easy enough to layer with a fun lacy bralette (check out Victoria’s Secret).

Do you ever shop on flash sale websites such as Gilt.com or Hautelook.com? Lauren and I both really like them- I’ve found such amazing products for nearly half the price and it’s fantastic.

Have an amazing weekend!

White Jacket

Hi Everyone!! I want to share this great jacket I found at Banana Republic. I usually am not one to go for white, but I am in love with this jacket for summer! It is a combo of a blazer and moto jacket, so you can dress it up for work or dress it down for dinner, like I did. The details are understated so wear this jacket with your favorite jewelry to add color. I wore a bright top to complement the white…why not wear bright bold colors during this nice warm weather?

What do you think about this jacket? What would you wear it with?

Stripes, Sneakers, and Chambray

I think this is the best new combo. Easy, fun, and casual, stripes, sneakers, and chambray can’t be done wrong. Here I paired a striped mini t-shirt dress with a chambray top and my favorite Nike Internationalist sneakers. Tying the chambray top around my waist gives me some curves and breaks up the stripes. This look is great for summer, especially if you want to be comfortable in sneakers!!

Zig & Zag

Literally IT WAS SO HOT YESTERDAY!! San Jose was in the triple digits- which is incredibly hot for us here in Northern CA. When it gets this warm (which it rarely does happen) we really like to wear dresses- they’re so simple and easy! I love this one I found at Hautelook last month from WOW Couture which is so Missoni esque. I love the fit and flare shape coupled with a fun zig/ zag print. It makes for such a perfect summer dress. I’ve worn it for a date night and it worked great!

In addition to dresses, we love to wear wedges in the Summer. We’re not quite sure if it’s their comfortability or their simplicity but wedges are absolutely our go-to shoe for warmer weather. I’ve raved about these Dolce Vita wedges before- I love the strapped shape and the tassel detail- also, how perfect is the color and the material?!?! They are some of my favorite shoes of all time.

Lately Lauren and I have been really into easy casual looks- maybe its the warmer weather or maybe we will just always be California Cool at heart. I found this maxi dress when I was in LA last month and honestly I can not stop wearing it! The patterned detail on the skirt is so boho & coupled with the cut out black top its super chic and fun to wear. It’s also light and airy which is absolutely perfect for being casual.

I also found this necklace when I was in LA as well- while I was on Abbot Kinney I found Roya De Rose in a pop up shop. She has the most incredible hand made pieces. I can not say enough about them- seriously, click the link below and you will not be disappointed. She goes to a lot of events (at festivals etc), so be sure to check to see if she’s near your city soon!

How Splendid…

Summer is all about being easy breezy. One of the brands that we are WAiSTEDD on this week is Splendid just for that reason- it is easy breezy. This brand literally offers every type of clothing you could ever want and is made of some of the best material we have found!
A little history-Splendid’s mission is to supply women with the ultimate t-shirt. One that was effortlessly chic, durable, but made of soft material. And let us tell you- they NAILED IT! Whether it is a t-shirt or a dress, all their pieces are extremely soft to the touch, but do not show any signs of wear no matter how many times you wear them! Lauren wears her Splendid t-shirts at least once a week. And not only did they nail t-shirts, but every other type of clothing too. Their chambray shorts this season are to die for, and surprisingly just as soft as their cotton ts. Also, their ruched dresses flatter any body type, plus they come in such fun colors.
The brand is carried in a lot of major retailers like Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack (some good finds!), Bloomingdales, and Piperlime, plus they have their own site @ splendid.com. Go check it out and start understanding how Splendid this brand really is!

Summer Florals

We can all appreciate a good print, and summer is the perfect time to show it off. Floral prints in particular have been popping up all over stores due to their whimsical and effortless nature. This is why we decided to feature them on this WAiSTEDD Wednesday.
Floral prints are found on everything and anything, not just maxi dresses. You can find shirts, shorts, rompers, pants, skirts, bag, etc etc. in floral prints this 2014 Summer season. When figuring out what is best for you, we suggest picking a piece that you feel comfortable wearing. Sometimes a loud print needs a bold attitude, so if you are going to be self-conscious in it, opt for a subtle pastel print. Also, if you are a little hesitant about a bold print, remember that you can match it back to a basic (white tee shirt or black tank top) to balance the outfit. Pair any outfit with a pair of neutral shoes, or a color that brings out one of the colors in your outfit for a little extra pop.
Throwing on a simple floral printed maxi dress (as seen in the pictures below) is a simple way to piece together a stunning outfit. Just throw on a denim jacket or sweater, and you are ready for a day to night look.
Summer is a time to have fun. Let your hair down and try out a floral print. We promise you will make such a statement and get so many compliments, as well as have a fun time wearing something a little sassy.
