White Jacket

Hi Everyone!! I want to share this great jacket I found at Banana Republic. I usually am not one to go for white, but I am in love with this jacket for summer! It is a combo of a blazer and moto jacket, so you can dress it up for work or dress it down for dinner, like I did. The details are understated so wear this jacket with your favorite jewelry to add color. I wore a bright top to complement the white…why not wear bright bold colors during this nice warm weather?

What do you think about this jacket? What would you wear it with?

Navy + White + Rose Gold

Navy + White + Rose Gold

This might be one of our favorite color combinations (after black and white of course). It is so simple and chic, plus the colors are easy to match back to other pieces in your wardrobe. The preppy combination of white and navy can’t be done wrong. Lauren wore these shorts to the farmers market a few weekends ago with metallic Sperry Top Siders and a white tank to dress it down a little bit. The detail really stands for itself and just needs a few accent pieces to accentuate it. We have been obsessing over different material shorts, check out J.Crew, Ella Moss, and Splendid! They are a great way to mix up your denim shorts!

How to Make Varsity

We know making Varsity was what everyone coveted. Each team had a special sweatshirt or jacket that made everyone else jealous. Well, now you can have a special Varsity jacket that represents you and your style.

As you know, we are all about the sporty-chic trend right now. The beauty of it is that you can mix and match so many different pieces and end up with a great, comfortable outfit. We have been seeing a lot of dressier pieces paired with basics, like Nikes or Converse with dresses and skirts to make a transitional day to night outfit.

The key to this trend is to focus your outfit around one or two things and let the rest just fall into place. In the outfit below, Lauren focused on the Varsity sweater as her main statement and complimented it with a funky white bucket bag. She went for a comfortable t-shirt underneath and some destroyed medium/light wash denim, which can carry over to a great night outfit as well. We would suggest ditching the bucket bag and grabbing a clutch and you are ready to go to dinner. To complete the outfit, a pair of black pumps seemed necessary for a feminine touch. The main part of the outfit, the sweater, is one of our loves for the season. As Spring weather can be hot and cold, layering is key. This sweater is effortless, yet chic and trendy all in one. It also has such basic colors you will be able to wear this into Fall and Winter with darker wash denim and booties. The quilting on the shoulders adds a feminine touch and so does the curviness of the shape.

Rolling denim or ankle skinny jeans are one of our favorite for Spring. Try them out and find a good pair that will lengthen your legs.

The bucket bag is so effortless and great to throw a bunch stuff into whether you are going to a festival, pool party, or lunch. We think the white is fresh and sassy for Spring-but be careful it does get dirty!

A great add to any wardrobe are black pumps-they can we worn to work, dinner, or an interview. The more comfortable and basic, the more you will wear them. We believe these are what you should invest in moreso than the fashion shoe.

There is a lot to say about black and white-two of the simplest colors in our closets. Black and white is probably the EASIEST color combo we can think of. Throw on a pair of black skinnies and a white tank with any pair of shoes and you are ready to go- or you can do the exact opposite and still look just as chic! Recently we have been all about black and white; not only because it is so easy, but because there are sooo many options and ways to make it your own! As we saw from Spring 14 NYFW, the crisp contrast of black and white is making a big statement. Here is how you can too.

Lauren experimented with the black and white trend by finding a fun patterned skirt paired with basics. Since the skirt is somewhat of an optical illusion, the eye immediately is drawn there. Now we know this skirt is kinda a lot, but take it from us, IT IS WORTH IT!!! We think you can wear this skirt anytime of the year, with anything in your closet. Remember our Flippin’ Out post? Not only are the color and contrast of this skirt is amazing, but so is the shape. The fluted, fit n’ flare shape slims the torso and thighs (what Lauren looks for to flatter her body type).

Maybe a skirt is not your style? There are plenty of printed black and white tops and jackets you can pick from. We especially love color blocking with black and white- whether it be a white jacket with black sleeves, or a black shirt with white edge details. If you want to be extra fun, go for black and white printed pants! Just remember, don’t overcrowd your outfits. If you have one statement piece, make sure it works with the rest of your outfit instead of fighting for the most exciting piece.

Throwing on a simple pair of booties or sandals, depending on the weather, and gold jewelry are all you need to complete this outfit. Of course, if you are looking to add some color, accessories are a great way to do this when you are keeping the clothing simple. This will make them really pop!

We love the CA coast-Big Sur during Winter

Appropriately Destroyed

During winter in California (especially since its been like 70) a sweater and skirt are a great way to dress for the season and the temperature-I mean look at our last posts. There are so many variations to this combo; mid-length or mini skirts with a tucked in or oversized sweater. To spice up this combo and make it your own, we say go for destroyed.

Destroyed is not a word we usually think about to describe anything but denim. What other pieces are “appropriately” destroyed? Sweaters. Lauren paired a destroyed sweater with a high waisted skirt to add some detail to this outfit. We are loving the back detail on this sweater because it makes it so versatile for multiple seasons and occasions, as well as shows off your back.

A “destroyed” sweater can also be paired with skinny jeans and caged booties, knee high boots, or booties. It’s a great piece to “make” the outfit or can accent fun shoes. Also, it’s a great day to night transition piece- just change your shoes, grab a clutch, and you are ready to go out on the town. Lauren added wedge booties to go with this outfit.

Now when you think about destroyed, don’t be afraid to get a little spicy and go for it! Remember that you can rock it.
